  • Scirpus are not grasses, they are perennial sedges
  • Upright cylindrical gray-green stems have 3 to 4 slender sheathed leaves at the base
  • Panicled seed heads emerge terminally from one side of the stem
  • Seeds are beige-brown and form groups of small spikelets
  • Bloom Time: June to August

Growing and Maintenance Tips:


Grows in marshes, along pond shorelines, and in bogs, in full sun to light shade. This sedge spreads by rhizomes and can be grown in water up to 1.5 m deep.
