Growing and Maintenance Tips:


Does not tolerate summer heat and is best grown in partial shade. It will naturalize under optimum conditions by both self-seeding or by creeping rhizomes. Can be found in swampy areas, wet meadows, by pond or stream banks or in low woods.

Native to Ontario

Larval host for Baltimore Checkerspot and Common Buckeye butterflies, and Chalcedony Midget moths.

Very few insects can access the nectar. Bumblebees have the strength to force their way into the unusual flowers.
