Additional Notes about Creeping Oregon Grape-Holly:

Native to Ontario

Larval host for some native moths and butterflies, including the Brown Elfin Butterfly. The flowers produce pollen and nectar, attracting bees, hummingbirds, moths, and other insects. The fruit is enjoyed by midsized birds and mammals. Because the edges of the leaves have small pricks, deer avoid this plant. In winter, they may become desperate enough to browse it.
