Also called Barrelhead Gayfeather, Cylindrical Blazing star

  • Fluffy rose-purple flowers on a leafy spike
  • Blooms at the top of the spike open first, and open successively down the spike
  • Narrow dark green grass-like basal leaves, 20 cm long
  • Good cut or dried flower
  • Bloom Time: July to September
  • Flower Height: 30-50 cm
  • Flower Size: 2.5 cm

Growing and Maintenance Tips:

Thrives in full sun, poor soils and dry conditions and is often seen growing on hills or slopes. Drought tolerant, it will also grow in a loamy soil if the site is well-drained.
