Growing and Maintenance Tips:

Iris versicolor grows best in moist to wet, soil conditions, in full sun or partial shade. Great for ponds, streams, and marshy areas. Vigorous, naturalizing iris once established, spreading by self-seeding or extension of its rhizomes. Although it thrives with its roots submerged, Iris versicolor will adapt to average or slightly dry conditions.

Native to Ontario

Larval host to native moths including the Virginia Ctenucha moth. The flowers attract native bees and butterflies; hummingbirds seek nectar. The plant helps filter excess nutrients from rain garden ponds.

While beneficial to biodiversity, if ingested, the foliage is toxic to human beings and livestock.
