Black chokeberry tolerates a wide range of soils and conditions including boggy. Will grow in full sun to partial shade, although best fruit production usually occurs in full sun. Remove root suckers to prevent colonial spread.
Native to Ontario, Eastern Canada and Eastern USA.
Cultivars of Aronia melanocarpa are grown as berry crops for their antioxidant properties.
