Growing and Maintenance Tips:


Saskatoonberry tolerates a wide range of soils and conditions. Root suckers are common, potentially resulting in a shrubby growth habit. Some strains reach only 125 cm, others up to 6 m.

Native to Ontario and other parts of North America.

Larval host for many butterflies. One of the first Amelanchier to bloom, it provides nectar for native bees and other pollinators. The fruit is food for mid-sized birds and small and large mammals.

First nations peoples used the fruit in the making of pemmican and other dishes.
