Growing and Maintenance Tips:


Grows best in a well-drained, sandy soil, in full sun. Protect from excessive winter moisture. Native plant, naturally found in the open, in sandy soils, fallow fields and along roads and railroads. Good drought tolerance.

"Villosa" is derived from Latin meaning 'hairy'.

Larval host plant for a dozen moth and butterfly species.

The flowers provide nectar and pollen for various species of bees as well as wasps,  beetles, and butterflies, including Monarchs and Painted Ladies.
