Growing and Maintenance Tips:

Silver maple can tolerate moist to wet, sometimes mucky, often poorly drained soils. A good selection when planting on floodplains, along the edges of streams and rivers and in low woods.

Additional Notes about Silver Maple:

Native to Ontario and parts of North America.  Host for the larval stage of the Cecropia moth, among others. The seeds, the largest winged samaras of any native maple in North America, are an important early-season food source for many small mammals and small and large birds. In the wild, beavers, rabbits, and deer browse the shoots and twigs.

Silver maple gets its name from the silvery undersides of its leaves.
