Also called Riverbank Grape

  • Drooping panicles of small five-petaled yellowish-green flowers
  • Blooms have a sweet musky fragrance
  • Small green berries age to deep purple
  • Grapes are edible but very sour
  • Large green three-lobed serrated leaves are 10 cm by 15 cm
  • Main stems have a shaggy reddish-brown bark
  • Will climb up trees and fences by tendrils
  • Bloom Time: June
  • Flower Size: 12 cm
  • Ripens: Summer

Growing and Maintenance Tips:


Vitis riparia grows in a moist to average soil, in full sun to partial shade. It grows from one central taproot and is often seen growing up hydro poles and on fences in dry ditches.
