Growing and Maintenance Tips:

Grows best in a moist, well-drained, humus-rich, acidic to neutral soil, in partial to full shade. Trillium will go dormant shortly after flowering, usually early summer.

Additional Notes about Red Trillium:

Native to Ontario

Picking the flowers may result in the death of the plant, or at least render it unable to flower again for up to seven years.

Seed dispersal occurs via a symbiotic relationship with ants.

The flowers emit a fragrance not unlike rotting meat, attracting flies to help with pollination.
