Growing and Maintenance Tips:

Best grown in full sun and fertile soils, this plant will tolerate various conditions, except wet, poorly drained sites. Will tolerate almost full shade, but with potential reduction in fall colour. Prune in late winter, as burning bush flushes new growth for only about two weeks in the spring.

Additional Notes about Burning Bush:

 Invasive Species

Grow Me instead suggests Amelanchier spp, Lindera benzoin, and Rhus aromatica as possible substitutes.

Plant This, Not That recommends Blueberries (Vaccinium) and Itea spp.
