Growing and Maintenance Tips:

Grows best in full sun and dry soils. Because they are somewhat open, they should be planted in groups, to maximize impact. Deadheading will encourage further flowering, but is not necessary. Leaving flowers up for winter interest will also feed some birds. As with many perennials, clumps should be divided and re-spaced every 3-5 years.

Additional Notes about Yellow Coneflower:

This is the only species of Echinacea that flowers yellow, thus the 'paradox' of the species name.

Arguably the most fragrant Echinacea.

The word "echinacea" comes from the Greek word "echinos" meaning "hedgehog", referring to the flower's spiky central cone.
