Growing and Maintenance Tips:

This plant benefits from light pruning to obtain a more compact shape. Protection (burlap wrap) from drying winter winds is recommended in an exposed location as "winter burn" is not uncommon with this cultivar. Damage or stem breakage may occur in the winter from ice and snow accumulation.

Additional Notes about Berkman's Gold Cedar:

Alternative Botanical Name: Platycladus orientalis 'Aurea Nana' - Platycladus comes from the Greek words meaning "broad" (platys) and branch (klados) in reference to its vertical plane-branching configuration.

Deer find the soft evergreen foliage very attractive for winter food and will rapidly strip a plant.
