Also called Cascade Falls Swamp Cypress

  • Deciduous conifer
  • Typically top-grafted, with a compact weeping crown
  • Branches grow outward from the stem, then drop vertically to the ground
  • Soft feathery flat needles green in the summer
  • Foliage turns rusty-brown in the fall before defoliating
  • Tolerates moisture-retentive or submerged soil, once the tree is established

Growing and Maintenance Tips:

While taxodium have the appearance of evergreens, they shed their needles every fall.

An outstanding specimen when used with large rockery and water features. Staking can create a desired height or shape.

Note: Chlorosis often occurs in an alkaline soil.
