Growing and Maintenance Tips:

Prefers full sun in average to moist, well-drained soils. Pruning is not normally necessary. Any necessary pruning should be done in late winter (during dormancy) or by pinching candles before they develop mature needles. 

To improve looks and airflow, these plants would benefit from periodic 'combing' (use your fingers) to remove dead material.
