Growing and Maintenance Tips:

Ilex grow best in a slightly acidic, slightly moist, well-drained soil, in full sun to partial shade. This cultivar benefits from the occasional pruning to keep its dense form, as it can become leggy as it matures. One male ilex plant will effectively pollinate up to six female plants, from up to 15 metres away.

Additional Notes about Blue Princess Holly:

An introduction by Conrad Pyle of West Grove, Pennsylvania in 1973 from crosses made by Kathleen K. Meserve of St. James, New York.

Ilex berries can be harmful; they contain an alkaloid similar to caffeine.
