Additional Notes about Red Beauty® Holly:

Hollies are dioecious: plants are either male or female. If berries are desired, one compatible male ilex plant will effectively pollinate up to six female plants, from up to 15 metres away.

Developed by Dr. Elwin Orton, Rutgers University, New Jersey.

Ilex berries can be harmful; they contain an alkaloid similar to caffeine.
