Growing and Maintenance Tips:

This shade- and sun-tolerant plant can easily withstand poor soils, urban air pollution, and windy conditions. Acanthopanax is dioecious. Almost all of the plants sold commercially are females, so little or no fruit is produced. Upright thorny shrub; ideal for a privacy hedge or barrier.

Suckering freely, care must be taken to position this plant correctly. And beware: any plant that "can grow anywhere" might become invasive.
