Growing and Maintenance Tips:

Rhododendrons require constant moisture (but not standing water), a fertile soil with a low pH and grow best in partial shade. Any pruning should be done soon after flowering to ensure bud set. Plants can benefit from protection (burlap wrap) against drying winter winds and sun in an exposed location.

Additional Notes about Grandiflorum Rhododendron:

Hybridized and introduced by A. Waterer. Seed Parent and Pollen Parent: catawbiense hybrid or selection

Elepidote: Without scales, as opposed to lepidote. Large leaf.
