Growing and Maintenance Tips:


Rhododendrons require constant moisture (but not standing water), a fertile soil with a low pH and grow best in partial shade. Any pruning should be done soon after flowering to ensure bud set. Plants can benefit from protection (burlap wrap) against drying winter winds and sun in an exposed location.

'Tapestry' was hybridized or introduced by Mezitt, Weston Nurseries in the 1970's. (catawbiense hybrid x 'Purple Splendor').

Elepidote: Without scales, as opposed to lepidote. Large leaf.

Lepidote: Having scales. Tiny scales typically cover the undersides of the leaves. Small leaf.
