Growing and Maintenance Tips:

Best grown in an average soil, in full or partial sun. This species spreads aggressively by rhizomes and can send up new shoots 6 metres away from the parent plant. To help contain the spread of this bamboo, plant in a heavy plastic tub, dig a trench about 80 cm deep and install a fibreglass, cement or metal barrier, or leave a trench about 25 cm deep around the plant and cut the rhizomes every few days when they cross the trench.

Additional Notes about Yellow Groove Bamboo:

Culms (stems) emerge from the ground at their ultimate thickness; they do not thicken with age.
