Summer flowering spirea will flower with a good flush in late spring, and sporadically during the summer. To promote a second flush of bloom, remove spent flowers by pinching or light shearing. Any pruning for shape should be done in early spring to allow the flower buds to form.
Described as invasive in the Eastern United States. Special attention is recommended near sensitive ecosystems and waterways.
Originated as a seedling of S. 'Goldflame', selected by Liss Forest Nursery; the plants are similar, but 'Firelight' is less prone to reversion.
