Best grown in a moist or dry, well-drained soil, in full sun. They are drought tolerant, once established. After flowering, prune flower stalks to just above a set of leaves to encourage a second flush of flowers and to maintain a compact foliage habit. Leave the second set of stems until spring, to collect leaves and snow, to protect the crown of the plant. Prune to the ground in spring.
