A popular choice for foundation plantings or rock gardens that are sunny (for needle colour), have medium moisture levels and are well-drained. This pine is naturally a slow grower, however, pinching the candles mid-spring will encourage an even more compact form. 

To improve looks and airflow, these plants would benefit from periodic 'combing' (use your fingers) to remove dead material.
