Growing and Maintenance Tips:

Grows best in an average to moist, well-drained soil, in full sun. This is a tall herb so plant in a protected spot, sheltered from the wind. Start plants indoors in early spring and plant out when frost is no longer a risk. Hardy to Zone 6, so established plants may need some winter protection. Leaves can be harvested throughout the summer and added to fresh salads. Seeds are also harvested for use in bread, soups or pasta dishes.

Additional Notes about Fennel:

Foeniculum vulgare is native to southern Europe and the Mediterranean region.
