Grows best in a dry to average, well-drained soil, in full sun or partial shade. Often becomes top heavy and floppy, but will continue to send up new branches. Grows quickly and leaves (cilantro) are harvestable right away. Pick fresh or freeze for later use. Coriander (seeds) are bitter when immature. Whole plants are cut and hung to dry. Once the seeds dry (turn brown), shake to remove and rub off the outer pod. Store whole seeds in an airtight container for later use.
One of the earliest recorded herbs in history, at 5000 years ago, coriander was first cultivated in ancient Egypt.
