Growing and Maintenance Tips:

Cercis tolerates varied soil conditions and pHs, but not wet soils. To promote general health, prune out dead branches. Can be a multi-stemmed clump or tree form.  Cercis is in the legume family, and thus is capable of fixing needed atmospheric nitrogen.

Additional Notes about Black Pearl Redbud:

A striking deciduous tree with multiple seasons of interest. Small pink flowers cover the branches before the heart-shaped, deep-purple foliage.  Summer foliage turns a brilliant chartreuse yellow in the fall.
