Growing and Maintenance Tips:

'Korean Sun' has a smaller mature size than the species, making it a suitable option where space is an issue. Pyrus is a great specimen, known for its blanket of flowers in early spring and its slow, long-lasting, showy fall colour. It makes an ideal shade tree that will highlight any lawn, park or streetscape.

Additional Notes about Korean Sun™ Pear:

Although Korean Sun may be self-infertile, in the presence of other compatible Pyrus varieties, they can produce viable seed which is easily distributed by birds. Thus they can squeeze out native flora and reduce biodiversity. Unfortunately, P. calleryana cvs. fit into that category.

Consider other spring-flowering trees: Amelanchier spp, Cercis canadensis, Viburnum lentago, Cornus racemosa.
